Privacy Policy

Planet Earth Show (PES) · Effective date: June 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Planet Earth Show ("PES", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Planet Earth Show mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide:

• Account data — email address, display name, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider; we never see your Google or Apple password.
• Profile data (optional) — a profile picture you choose from presets, your photo library, or your camera.
• Playlists — M3U/M3U8 playlist URLs you import and custom playlists you create.
• Social data (optional) — accounts you follow, direct messages you send, and — only if you enable it — your recent watching activity shared with mutual friends. You can hide activity sharing at any time in Settings.
• Assistant messages — messages you send to the in-app AI assistant.
• Reports — content or user reports you submit, including your contact email for takedown requests.
• Payment and transaction data — if you purchase the ad-free upgrade, payments made inside the App on iOS or Android are processed directly by Apple or Google, respectively, via their native In-App Purchase systems. We do not collect, view, or store payment card numbers or CVVs. We receive only purchase confirmation tokens and receipts from Apple or Google to activate and maintain your ad-free status.

Information collected automatically:

• Device data for ads — the free version shows ads via Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), approximate location derived from IP address, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads. Where required by law, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
• Basic technical data — IP address and request logs generated by our servers for security and reliability.

Stored only on your device (never sent to our servers): favorites, recently-watched history (unless you enable friends activity sharing), playback preferences, and your parental-control passcode.

Camera and photos: the App requests camera access only to scan playlist QR codes or take a profile photo, and photo-library access only to choose a profile photo. Images and camera data are never used for any other purpose.

2. How we use your information

• Provide and maintain the service — keep you signed in, sync your ad-free status, and store your imported playlists;
• Operate optional social features you choose to use (profiles, follows, messaging, activity sharing);
• Respond to the in-app AI assistant;
• Show ads in the free version and honor your ad-free status after a purchase;
• Process and respond to reports, takedown requests, and support inquiries;
• Protect the service against abuse, fraud, and security threats;
• Comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases under the GDPR: performance of a contract (providing the App), your consent (personalized ads, optional social features), legitimate interests (security, service improvement), and legal obligation (takedown handling, tax records).

3. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the App, and only what each one needs:

• Apple / Google — processes in-app purchases and entitlement checks for iOS and Android (Apple Privacy Policy / Google Privacy Policy);
• Google AdMob — advertising in the free version (how Google uses ad data);
• Groq — processes the messages you send to the AI assistant;
• SMTP2GO — delivers transactional emails such as password resets;
• Google / Apple — only if you choose to sign in with them.

We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can, at any time from Profile → Privacy inside the App:

• Export your data — receive a summary of everything we hold about you; or
• Delete your account — permanently and immediately erase your profile, imported playlists, messages, chat history, social connections, and account-linked purchase receipts. This cannot be undone.

If you cannot access the App, email legal@planetearthshow.com from your account email and we will delete your account within 30 days.

5. Your privacy rights

GDPR (EEA/UK): you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

CCPA/CPRA (California): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To limit ad tracking, use your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads) or choose non-personalized ads when prompted for consent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

6. Security

All traffic between the App and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, sessions use signed tokens, and access to production data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices.

7. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parental controls with a passcode are available in Settings. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International data transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where data is transferred out of the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses implemented by our providers.

9. Third-party content

The App is a media player. Playlists you import connect your device directly to third-party streaming servers, which may receive your IP address and standard connection data. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sources.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. We will post the updated version at this URL and update the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the App.
